Press releases are a form of FREE advertising for your company or blog. This form of advertising is usually a lot more involved and informative then an ad in the paper or on line because you can tell about your company in great detail. In this article we will tell you how to create the perfect press release that covers all your bases and that can help get you new clients. We give you the standards of writing a press release and help you keep it short and simple, but to the point.
Press releases are not just for the newspapers anymore since more people get their news from the internet now. They are just a written statement about scheduled events, promotions, new products, or just to inform the world of a new company endeavour. Even though it is usually very simple, it is a very powerful public relations tool. If the press release is done right then you are more likely to get potential clients through the news media outlets. Once you write your press release you can use the list at the bottom of the page to submit your press release to various outlets to gain maximum exposure.
You can see out press release here.
When writing a press release you need to have a eye catching headline. The headline is basically what it sounds like. It's the entire press release in one sentence. Think of the headline as your attention grabber, with a strong headline you can get people wanting to read the rest. "Blog Gives New Insight Into the World Website Design for Mississippi" would be a great title for a website design blog. The title represents what the press release will be about and gives just enough information to keep the viewer interested and reading. The font of the headline should be bold and is usually larger than the rest of the page text, but does not need to be. The headline should be present-tense.
The next important part is the city of origination, the publisher name, and the date of publication. For example, your intro sentence should look like "City, St (Publisher Name) November, 02, 2009 -- Intro sentence, etc.
A typical, well written press release should be between five and six paragraphs long. Your first paragraph should summarize the entire press release, the second should contain the most informative information, and the third should contain less informative information, but more informative then the fourth paragraph, so forth and so on.
Try to throw a few quotes here and there (make sure they contain fact) because media outlets love quotes from real people. When writing a press release you need to be exact, try not to use non facts because they do matter when the press release is published. If you have a fact make sure you can back it up if the time comes.
Underneath your press release you can include one paragraph about your company. This should be simple and short, one or two lines max. Make sure to separate this part from the body copy with bold text.
Last but not least you should include your media contact information. This information should also be simple and short. When writing a press release I just leave my email, phone, and website address. This is sufficient enough for anyone wanting to contact you regarding your company or services.
At the very end of the press release make sure you include ### to tell the reader that the press release if complete. This is the standard for articles written by journalists.
A press release can be about anything new with your company or blog. It is a great way to get free exposure because you save a journalist from having to write an article, so most are happy to use your press release. Make sure your press release is filled with facts, quotes, and you keep the reader entertained. They are a gateway to free public relations and if you use it wisely you will see exposure coming from unlikely sources.
