Google Throughout the Years Blog Post Image

Google was founded by Sergey Brin and Larry Page on September 4, 1998 while they were students at Stanford University. Google was simple, yet useful....one of the reasons that it was so popular. In 2000, Google started it advertisement campaign to sell advertisements associated with search keywords. They used the text based advertisements to minimize loading time and clutter.

The first public offering of Google was in August 19, 2004 in which they were able to raise $1.67 billion. On this date Google's stock price was $85 per share. Boy do I wish I could have got in on that one!

From googol to Google, Whats in a Name?

The name Google is from the word googol. Googol means the number one followed by one hundred zeros. Now the term "google" is used as a verb, it means "to use the Google search engine to obtain information n the internet".

Below we have complied images of Google throughout the years. It has not changed to much, but it has evolved to keep up with its customer base. Now they have gmail, iGoogle, and custom themes for your iGoogle account. Take a look below to see how the Google page started in 1998 to its present status.

Conclusion

Google is a great tool that a lot of people use everyday to find simple things like cooking ideas, movie reviews, or just to keep from being bored. Without Google I do not think the internet would be the way it is today. Yahoo's search engine is great, don't get me wrong, but Google has surpassed it in many ways. Not to be biased we will do a Yahoo through the years tomorrow....so stay tuned.
